A Variety of Interventions That Lead To Neural Growth
Along with our four environments, we offer a variety of interventions to encourage neural growth so that children can reach their full potential.
Neurofeedback is a training designed to enhance self-regulation through operant training of brain wave activity. By using a normative database, based on age, gender, and handedness, we can target the frequencies of the brain, and specific areas of the brain, in order to normalize excessive and deficient activity.
Integrated Listening Systems (iLs)
iLs uses modified classical music through air conduction and bone conduction to provide the deepest form of listening. iLs is used in conjunction with the Jacob’s Ladder program to target language development, sound sensitivities, auditory discrimination challenges, and overall attention and focus.
Animal Assisted Therapy
Animal Assisted Therapy provides an opportunity for children to build their social, communicative, independence, and self-regulation skills in a natural way. The Roswell campus has several animal enclosures housing alpacas, donkeys, chickens, rabbits, a miniature pony, a variety of fish and a campus cat.
Art therapy is a great tool for children and aids in visual/spatial skills, communication, relationship skills with peers, and emotional/behavioral self-regulation.
Taste Of Love Bakery
Begun in August 2018, Taste of Love is an on-campus bakery providing a creative opportunity for our students to interact socially, learn new skills, practice the skills of attending, planning, and follow through – via the art of baking.
Mental Health services are available for a licensed professional to work directly with students in conjunction with the targeted Jacob’s Ladder program to address individual goals.
Outdoor Adventure Based Learning
Students work on individual goals outside the four walls of a classroom by experiencing the outdoors on the Jacob’s Ladder campuses.
Environments have the opportunity to go out into the community and participate in a wide variety of activities, ranging from those with a community service focus, working on their daily living skills, academic exposure, or simply for fun – all the while challenging them to generalize skills across environments.
Summer Camp Options
We offer various day programs and recreational camps throughout the summer, including on-campus intensives, adventure-based options (hiking), day excursions (Atlanta Zoo), and overnight experiences.
Music therapy is a fun way to incorporate social and emotional skills with fine and gross motor skills into a fun and exciting experience. Jacob’s Ladder partners with The George Center for Music Therapy to bring weekly group sessions to the Roswell and Buckhead campus.
Speech, Physical & Occupational Therapy
We offer Speech Therapy (ST), Physical Therapy (PT), and Occupational Therapy (OT) ancillary services through a partnership with Licensed Service Providers from various local therapy practices. Goals are addressed in partnership and sessions are held on-site at Jacob’s Ladder.
