Additional Interventions
Science-Supported Interventions Lead to Brain Growth and Improved Function
Along with our four environments, Jacob’s Ladder offers a variety of proven interventions that support the successful implementation of the Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care. Combinations of these therapies may be part of clients’ individualized care programs, and some are available to outside clients not currently enrolled at Jacob's Ladder who need neurodevelopmental services.
Neurofeedback training enhances self-regulation by targeting frequencies of brain wave activity. It can normalize excessive and deficient activity. Quantitative electroencephalogram (qEEG), or brain mapping, shows the brain areas that could benefit from neurofeedback therapy.
Integrated Listening Systems (iLs) uses modified classical music through air and bone conduction to provide the deepest form of listening. This therapy targets language development, sound sensitivities, auditory discrimination challenges, and attention and focus.
Animal Assisted Therapy naturally provides opportunities to build social, communicative, independent, and self-regulation skills. The Roswell campus is home to alpacas, donkeys, chickens, rabbits, a miniature pony, a variety of fish, and a campus cat. Trained animal care providers facilitate all client-animal interactions.
Art Therapy helps build visual/spatial skills, communication, peer relationship skills, and emotional/behavioral self-regulation. Art therapy is a beautiful way for clients to express themselves, building skills and self-esteem.
Taste Of Love Bakery is an on-campus working bakery. Participation provides creative opportunities for clients to interact socially and learn skills of attending, planning, and following through, as well as entrepreneurship principles.
Mental Health Services are offered through licensed professionals who work directly with clients to address individual goals in conjunction with their customized Jacob’s Ladder programs. Mental health professionals can also work with families to further the cohesiveness of goals and strategies between school and home.
Outdoor Adventure Based Learning is a fun way for clients to experience the outdoors, work on individual goals, problem-solve, and build relationship skills. Clients get to experience the beauty of the Jacob's Ladder campuses, all while working within intentionally created living classrooms that offer learning experiences outside of traditional classroom settings.
Field Trips can encompass various activities that may focus on community service, daily living skills, academic exposure, or simply fun! Off-campus trips encourage clients to generalize and apply learned skills across different environments and settings.
Summer Camp Options include day programs and recreational camps, including on-campus intensives, adventure-based options (hiking), day excursions (Atlanta Zoo), and overnight experiences.
Music Therapy combines social and emotional skills with fine and gross motor skills to create a fun and exciting learning experience. Jacob’s Ladder is fortunate to have staff with musical backgrounds and training to facilitate music enrichment and activities for our clients.
Speech, Physical & Occupational Therapy are provided through a partnership with Licensed Service Providers from respected local therapy practices. ST, PT, and OT sessions are held on-site at Jacob’s Ladder campuses to address each client's specific goals.
Jacob’s Ladder draws from more than 4,000 interventions to unlock the potential in clients from infancy to young adulthood with diagnoses of:
