Brain Injury & Stroke
The Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model
of Brain Injury and Stroke
The Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care specifically targets the areas of the brain that have been affected through traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, or stroke. Most often these students present with a mixture of mobility, visual, language, or cognition challenges. Many times, especially in the case of stroke, we see loss of language (Aphasia).
The Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care systematically discerns which brain regions have been affected. Then, we deliver a targeted stimulation program that is capable of rewiring/re-networking the pathways in the brain. The field of neuroscience has proven again and again the brain’s ability to heal and regenerate itself. With targeted and consistent effort, we target areas of the brain responsible for verbal expression, comprehension, memory processing, and emotion modulation.
Diagnoses We See
Our Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care helps students reach their full potential by creating the right neural pathways. We serve students with various diagnoses including:
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI)
- Acquired Brain Injury
Environments for Students with Brain Injury or Stroke
Evaluation. Assessment. Individualized Plans.
Each student receives a comprehensive evaluation of his or her neurodevelopment, physiological health, learning style, and emotional, behavioral, and relational balance. The evaluation includes a global neurodevelopmental assessment unique to Jacob's Ladder of more than 300 indicators. In addition, we conduct a comprehensive academic assessment, a nutritional consultation, and a qEEG brain map to determine regions of the brain that struggle to communicate.
Based on the evaluation, each student receives a model of care tailored to his or her academic and therapeutic needs. In this way, we develop the right neural pathways to reach each child's full potential.
Every Moment is an Opportunity
Our professional, highly-trained team uses every opportunity in the day for nurturing, learning, and integration. Even transitions between activities support neural growth and healing.
Step by Step
Our individualized programs target areas of the brain responsible for verbal expression, comprehension, memory processing, and emotion modulation.
