Emotional, Behavioral, &
Relational Challenges
The Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care and Emotional, Behavioral & Relational Challenges
Emotionally, behaviorally, or relationally challenged children typically experience under or over communication in the areas of the Limbic System (Insular Cortex, Cingulate Gyrus) where self-regulation, fight or flight response, and regulation of the body’s homeostasis are located. Often, these areas struggle to communicate with the Frontal Association Cortex, the part of the brain responsible for making inference of other people’s social cues, modulation of affect, empathy, consequences of actions, and planning of goal-directed behavior.
Our Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care individualized programs work to help students develop new neural pathways that enable them to better manage emotional stimuli, self-regulate, achieve mindfulness, and build healthy relationships based on respect for themselves and others.
Diagnoses We See

Our Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care helps students overcome their emotional, behavioral, or relational challenges by creating the right neural pathways. We serve students with various diagnoses including:
- High-Functioning Autism
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
- Generalized Anxiety Disorders
- Social and Relational Challenges
- Behavioral Challenges
- Specific Learning Differences
- Lack of Self-Regulation Ability
- Mood Disorders
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Environments for Students with Emotional, Behavioral & Relational Challenges
Evaluation. Assessment. Individualized Plans.
Each student receives a comprehensive evaluation of his or her neurodevelopment, physiological health, learning style, and emotional, behavioral, and relational balance. The evaluation includes a global neurodevelopmental assessment unique to Jacob's Ladder of more than 300 indicators. In addition, we conduct a comprehensive academic assessment, a nutritional consultation, and a qEEG brain map to determine regions of the brain that struggle to communicate.
Based on the evaluation, each student receives a model of care tailored to his or her academic and therapeutic needs. In this way, we develop the right neural pathways to reach each child's full potential.

Celebrating Success
We celebrate each milestone achieved, each step along the journey, each skill mastered. At Jacob's Ladder, many breakthroughs and accomplishments happen daily.
