The Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care
and Genetic Syndromes
A genetic syndrome diagnosis does not dictate a child’s ultimate potential success. The Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care addresses a variety of genetic syndrome challenges by developing brain growth and change through adequate targeted stimulation, good nutrition, and proper oxygenation.
Keeping each child’s unique neurodevelopmental strengths and challenges central to our program, we focus on the foundational lower brain centers first. Moving in a foundation-up model, we strengthen function and specifically target areas of sensory motor interpretations, motor planning, modulation of emotions, and visual and auditory processing.
Diagnoses We See
Our Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care helps students with intellectual and developmental delays reach their full potential by creating the right neural pathways. We serve students with various diagnoses including:
- Down Syndrome
- Rare Chromosomal Disorders
Environments for Students with Genetic Syndromes
Evaluation. Assessment. Individualized Plans.
Each student receives a comprehensive evaluation of his or her neurodevelopment, physiological health, learning style, and emotional, behavioral, and relational balance. The evaluation includes a global neurodevelopmental assessment unique to Jacob's Ladder of more than 300 indicators. In addition, we conduct a comprehensive academic assessment, a nutritional consultation, and a qEEG brain map to determine regions of the brain that struggle to communicate.
Based on the evaluation, each student receives a Model of Care tailored to his or her academic and therapeutic needs. In this way, we develop the right neural pathways to reach each child's full potential.
Our students experience better engagement with their families and peers, increased communication and stronger behavioral skills. They also gain vocational, educational, and independent living skills. All of these instill confidence and pride.
Passion and Purpose
Jacob's Ladder helps each student find his or her passion and purpose, and live it. We never underestimate potential or capacity to succeed. We empower students to advocate for themselves and make choices that bring them closer to reaching their goals.
