Neurofeedback, sometimes referred to as EEG Biofeedback, is a training designed to enhance self-regulation through training of brain wave activity. By using a normative database, based on age, gender, and handedness, we can determine the areas of the brain that have too much or too little activity of a specific frequency.
Using traditional EEG technology, we can target the frequencies of the brain, and specific areas of the brain, in order to normalize excessive and deficient activity. Neurofeedback works by “training” the brain waves through operant conditioning, the brain is rewarded for changing its own activity to more appropriate patterns.
Neurofeedback does not involve giving any additional stimulation to the brain.
