Why Jacob's Ladder

A Haven of Hope for Special Needs Families

Jacob’s Ladder is an internationally recognized and accredited private school and therapy center. It is also a haven of hope, founded on a groundbreaking science-based approach delivered in supportive loving environments.

On a daily basis, we see our students achieve breakthroughs previously thought impossible. There is no mold for your child to fit into at Jacob’s Ladder. For each student there is an individualized plan, based on the findings of in-depth assessments of their neurological functions, needs, and strengths. We build on those strengths, revealing potential and conquering challenges in environments that offer safety, loving care, and unconditional positive regard.

Our offerings include full-time and part-time remote enrollment options, facilitated either in-home or virtually. We serve students and their families locally, nationally, and internationally. Beyond directly serving families, Jacob’s Ladder is wholeheartedly committed to encouraging and empowering the global special needs community through research, training, certification, and licensure.

At the heart of everything we do is our Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care, a transformative methodology for creating positive change and exceptional outcomes for individuals with any behavioral or neurological challenge.

Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care

Based on the principles of neuroplasticity, our Model demonstrates clearly that the brain can change, grow, and adapt based on the stimulation it receives. Our Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care transforms lives by helping children develop a better-connected brain through the implementation of a customized plan of care in a safe, loving environment.

Learning Environments

Based on their initial assessment, each child is recommended for placement in one of our four environments, all with compassionate and caring student-teacher relationships. Jacob's Ladder serves students on our two metro Atlanta campuses or through our Community of Care, experienced remotely at home or school.

Wrap-Around Care

Maximizing the potential of a special needs child requires those around the child to all be aligned and working together.  A student's family, physicians, and other individuals or groups who are important for helping to shape the child’s progress maintain communication during implementation of the model of care. This maintains the integrity of the program and increases likelihood of a successful outcome.

Our Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care transforms lives by helping children develop a better-connected brain through a customized plan of care delivered in safe, loving environments. Over three decades, we have worked with more than 4,000 students to create positive change and growth.

Based on the principles of neuroplasticity, our Model demonstrates clearly that the brain can change, grow, and adapt based on the stimulation it receives. Starting from the foundational brain stem level, we ensure neural pathways are communicating effectively. Then, we can support development of higher skill sets in midbrain and the cortex. Each student's goals are central to their individualized model of care. With a better-connected brain, they can achieve what was once thought impossible.
